How to release karmic attachments this eclipse season
What is a karmic attachment and how to release it?
Eclipse season. Mercury Retrograde. In the Vedic calendar, we are leading up to Somavati Amavasya (a particular type of new moon), and then Chatri Navratri. More on the latter later, but for now - here’s a few things to know about the purge taking place in this eclipse portal and how to release karmic attachments.
What is a karmic attachment?
Whilst attachment in and of itself is not a bad thing, karmic attachments are such that may mask themselves as close friends, lovers or even soul connections but are actually NOT. They are some of the HARDEST and let’s be very real, the hardest things to identify and break which is why people stay in toxic relationships for years without realising, or toxic friendship circles, or even just a person. We think we are smart, but we are not.
And you’ll know what is a karmic attachment from the energetics. The trajectory of a karmic attachment is always down, even if it seems expansive in the beginning. With a genuine soul bond or unconditional, supportive connection; there is no downwards trajectory even if there are waves.
The thing about karmic attachments is that they will mask themselves, and the masks become more and more convincing as you are tested further in your spiritual journey. Karmic attachments will come in more spiritually upgraded forms, as you ascend, to help you highlight areas of yourself that need healing and clear away old karmic contracts or patterns that no longer serve your highest alignment.
When it comes to karmic attachments, appearances like intelligence level, social service, religiosity and so forth have absolutely nothing to do with the fundamental energetics of a person. If a certain energy is bringing you anxiety, or subconsciously draining your energy; there is a need for you to set stronger boundaries. The problem comes because our brain is addicted to karmic attachments and the rush it may bring.
Having said that there is not an entirely black and white in this regard because we all have karmic patterns, toxic parts of our shadow etc - but there is definitely a clear cut idea of a toxic attachment when you notice you develop a strong attachment to something beyond any significant higher aligned sense.
How do you release a karmic attachment?
The first way to cut a karmic attachment is to do a short cord cutting visualisation / ritual to cut your energetic cords with a person or situation. Now, this doesn’t mean that you cut everyone off. You can still be energetically attached to karmic attachments months and years after they have left your life. How to do this? Well, simple answer is open Youtube and find a good cord cutting meditation video! I have some good resources to share, but will do so in another separate article.
Write down all your painful experiences or anxieties around a situation, person or so forth and BURN the paper with fire. Do not do this during an eclipse or new moon, because eclipse (for the EXACT eclipse time period you need to see a Vedic panchang because Western astrology has absolutely no grasp over that dimension) - eclipse portals are where we withdraw. Releasing rituals are best done during a full moon or when the moon is visible in the sky. The thing is, you have direct ability to connect with spirit, if you choose to believe in yourself. Write things down and burn it, ask Great Spirit, Pachamama, Divine Mother to clear away all negative patterns or karmic attachments.
Simply use your intention in meditation to clear away karmic attachments, you can do this through repeating affirmations such as “I now release all unhealthy attachments which don’t serve my highest purpose,” even repeat this to your own eyes in the mirror. Repeat “I love and accept myself” in the mirror and see how your energy changes; the root of all healing is self-love. You can do the same for your own karmic patterns. Words shift consciousness. You can also visualise yourself in a bubble of protective white light and ask that this healing divine white light cleanse and clear away any heavy energies.
If you are TOO energetically open and sensitive, you need to be putting your feet in salt water, doing things to cleanse your energy once in a day. This could be saging your aura, definitely through the practice of Pranayama or breathing exercises. SPEND TIME ALONE IN SILENCE. Too much we CANNOT actually figure out the energies in our life or we feel overwhelmed because we don’t give ourselves time to withdraw and cut and be with ourselves! The internet, even when we are sitting alone, why do we have to scroll the phone? Why is it so hard to put the phone away and say you know what, I’m just going to PRACTICE sitting here doing nothing for ten minutes looking at the sky and feeling incredibly uncomfortable because societal conditioning has programmed me into feeling inadequate if I’m not constantly distracting myself or doing something. Take active time for your own self care, that means physical self care, emotional and mental self care, and spiritual self care. Karmic attachments take hold when we are not giving adequate attention to the void inside. As they say in the world of psychedelics, there’s no such thing as a bad trip. So, write in a journal. Play instruments. Self care is sacred.
