How to unblock your voice and find your inner expression - 3 practical tips!
Do you struggle with speaking your truth? Do you often feel like you have an ocean of things to express but hardly manage to express anything? Is there something you care about, yet you are unable to express yourself in effective ways? There are multiple reasons for this, and for a large part this stems from having a blocked voice.
This can be a deeper reflection of lack of confidence in ourselves, colonial wounding patterns, generational trauma patterns, lack of inner clarity and internal disconnect.
When our throat channels are open and voice is flowing, we are able to freely express our truth whilst remaining centred in the heart and bring about effective change. We operate from a place of intuition rather than our reactions. We no longer struggle with over or under-expression; but rather find that balance between internal and external.
This is also related to setting better boundaries, our sense of self-worth and feeling the satisfaction of embodying our own unique expression for the world!
So, how do we unblock our voice and find our anchoring within our internal truth?
This is a very large area and can be addressed in a proper guide. However, let’s start with 3 BASIC PRACTICES to unblock the channels of your expression and get you flowing again!
1. Mirror work
One of the most common things that block us, is fear. This can be healed through mirror work. At the start of the day, look at yourself in the mirror, look at your own eyes and make positive affirmations about yourself. This itself will raise your self-image and give you a reference point to navigate the outside world.
Apart from this, look into the mirror and simply talk to yourself. Have you every spoken outloud to yourself? People may think you’re crazy but this is a GREAT way to simply express yourself, without fear of judgement, and give yourself the time and space to do that (say 10 minutes) and then spend 5 minutes in meditation to allow your energies to settle and integrate.
2. Speech processing
The fact is, most of our mind is subconscious. A great way to give expression to the unconscious and open up our channels of communication is through the practice of random speech. In this practice, you do not want to speak any known language. You simply want to make whatever noises and sounds that you feel for five minutes outloud. If you feel self-conscious, this is something that will resolve itself over time the more you do this practice. As part of this, you may feel like speaking in high pitched or low pitched tones; you may feel the need to scream or sing. Allow expression for all of it! This is also how we process our genetic memory because the English language was enforced on us through colonisation. After completing this practice, once again sit in meditation for 5 minutes and simply observe your breathing.
3. Chanting visualisation
The beej mantra (seed vibration) of the throat chakra is Hum. By simply chanting this outloud and pronouncing it, visualising a light blue light filling up your throat chakra, you will feel the energy of this region shift. Spend time just connecting with your own energy and over time your perception will expand and powers of visualisation will increase. Do this practice sitting down with your back straight for five minutes and attempt to do this at the same time every day.
