Shani (Saturn) Jayanti and New Moon: June 6th
Everything you need to know for this potent karmic clearing portal
Shani Jayanti is the day that Saturn came into existence, and also the new moon.
In Vedic science, each of the planets has its own deity and is a form of consciousness; each planet exerts different effects depending on your personal chart and within the cosmos overall.
Saturn is the planet of karma and justice. It is one of the most powerful planets - and also one of the most dreaded! Why so?
Well the period of karmic lessons and challenges can be very tough, and for those going through Saturn Sadesati, Adhaiya or Rahu Mahadasha, doing remedies for this Shani Amavasya is even more crucial.
These potent astrological windows offer us the opportunity to clear our karma (lifetimes of it, yes!!), to attain spiritual strength and maximise our life.
It’s funny because the entire modern world follows occult science yet demonises it at the same time, astrology too is a science; and despite the many scams, half knowledge, and so forth - even the smallest effort within dharma pays off.
Now, Saturn is dreaded for multiple reasons.
One is that it looks at 3 places in the chart, and contains poison in it’s gaze. So if it’s looking at a house related to finances, the influence of Saturn will damage your finances, or your ability to be financially stable. This is just an example but analysis depends on your own unique chart.
Issues with mental health and stability
Going through too many challenges at once
Disease and health issues
Struggles with work and finances
Getting to the main point of this article which is WHAT CAN YOU DO to make the most of Shani Jayanti, to avoid the ill effects of Saturn, clear out that karmic debris and free yourself! (And remember, even if you’re going through struggle, there’s a higher intelligence in the universe that is pushing you to evolve, go deeper within and explore your higher purpose, but we’ll cover the topic of shadow integration in a different article).
What you can do for Shani Jayanti
The first thing is keeping a mustard oil lamp under a Peepal tree. This also gives peace to your ancestors. When placing the lamp, ask that your ancestors receive Atma Shanti and to clear karmic bondage from your lineage. If you don’t have a Peepal tree because you live abroad, you can get a friend to put a lamp under a Peepal tree for you with the intention that it’s from you and be sure to give the friend some dakshina or cash (which is a flow of energy that communicates with the universe and is always part of Vedic rituals overall)
The second thing is chanting Hanuman Chalisa. Yes, this is one of the best remedies for Saturn and of course visiting the Hanuman temple. Try to find an ancient, authentic Vedic temple rather than a modern ashram because the energy is going to be entirely different. Sit and chant Hanuman Chalisa, and pray to Hanuman ji to wash away your struggles and suffering.
You can also do Tula Daan or donate in your own weight Udad Daal for Shani along with rice, remember to donate in your exact weight. You can give either raw khichdi to an Annakhsetra where many people will be fed, or to your local temple. Kashi is the very centre of all danam activities because it is the most powerful energetic portal in the universe (maybe apart from Kailash) which clears lifetimes of karma simply by stepping there. Therefore any danam done has manifold benefit.
The last remedy is to chant Dashrat Krit Shani Stotram which anyone can chant or listen to on YouTube try to get the pronunciations right. This will give you peace inside.
The mantra for Shani Dev is Pram Prim Praum Sah Shanaishcharya Namah (in English, but search the proper translation).
If you want a proper individual consultation for your Vedic astrology chart, I’ve made it my endeavour to connect seekers with the authentic origins in ancient Kashi.
Send me an email or DM for contacts of genuine and highly experienced multi-lineage Vedic astrology pandits and rituals. I also help with translation for those that don’t understand Hindi.
May Shani Dev bring spiritual enlightenment into your life! May the world be free of all karmic density. May we reclaim our ancient spiritual systems and uplift the planet.
Aum Namah Shivaya
I like point 5. How very bold of you. 🤌🏽🤌🏽🧨🧨🧨
