Social media, reactivity & mastering your triggers
A simple approach to mastering your triggers + reactions in a world of hyper-stimulation
Let’s face it.
We live in a world where we are perpetually being challenged with triggers. The advent of social media and since 2020, more pronounced focus on social media activism has made being triggered and being reactive far more easy.
Is this a good thing?
Well for your nervous system it is NOT a good to constantly reactive or triggered. The modern world has been designed to keep you in a state of constant stress / fear because that’s what makes you profitable.
When your nervous system is under control, be it through media or otherwise:
You will be more chronically sick and therefore benefit the pharmaceutical industry
You're unable to actually invest time in raising your consciousness to any signifiant extent beyond one time experiences
You will not free yourself from this matrix structure
Social media addiction is a real and genuine problem.
On top of that, you have people who are constantly chained to mainstream media, social warriorship, fighting with people without any real educational knowledge of just about anything (yes, that’s 90% of the internet these days) and otherwise living in their bubble. Often resorting to labelling and projection when they cannot find any real factual argument. That isn’t helping anyone.
Aside from that -
The other side of this coin is TRAUMA.
If you want to RISE ABOVE THE NOISE you need to start doing real work within your nervous system to undo the trauma based fear responses that keep you trapped in cycles of external warfare and having your energy hijacked by the next agenda the elites are throwing at humanity.
Because as I said earlier, the system profits from keeping you in fear.
Getting out of fear is your choice; can you choose to rise into a higher mode of being, communication, self care and therefore do FAR more productive things that uplift the planet (if you actually care about uplifting the planet, because most social media warriors don’t - they just like to virtue signal).
And that’s perfectly fine. Because you are allowed to be authentic.
It is not necessary to be a social media activist or warrior. You can swim with dolphins. You can plant trees. You can make art. Do what makes your soul happy.
The more energy that you conserve from reactivity, the more energy you have to create a better life for yourself. That’s why you need to master your triggers.
How exactly do you master your triggers?
Here are some simple methods that will REALLY help you to free up space and take control of your energy rather than controlled by every external response.
Start here:
Make a MEASUREMENT of how much social media you use. You cannot gain mastery over any addiction if you are not measuring it. Write it down without shame, how many hours did you spend today scrolling without purpose, even if felt productive to have political discussions and so forth? Write it down and aim to lessen it to at least half. Yes, at least half.
Schedule moments to breathe. If you’re not conscious of your breathing you are always going to be reactive. Just 3 times in a day, put an alarm to sit for 5 minutes and just observe your breathing. You’ll find out how astounding it is that you were never even self aware. You were running on autopilot and therefore, controlled by impulse. Not awareness.
Get back in touch with your body. Yes, reactivity comes from a place of being OUT OF ALIGNMENT and the major disease of this modern world is being out of alignment with your body. Write down in a journal now, just one page - how much time and steps do you take to get in touch with your body? Whether it is conscious exercise (the gym is a mechanical activity it’s not conscious), whether it is self massage, drinking green juice, whatever it is - write it down. And then write down ways you can be more in touch with your natural vessel such as mindful walking.
The key takeaway from this is, give your nervous system a break.
When you heal your nervous system, you heal the nervous system of the entire planet. There is a place for external activity but when you’re out of balance, overwhelmed, control by a narrative outside of you and don’t have any connection to spirit, you need to actively raise your level of awareness.
