Why your menstrual cycle is the most spiritually powerful time and how to tap into it!
Healing the womb and ancient Vedic culture
The 3 day period of the menstrual cycle is the most spiritually powerful time for women. Women have been uniquely blessed with the biological power of creation, and this means we are also inter-dimensional portals, we have access to a higher sensitivity, intuition and magical abilities. This is why awakened feminine women were termed as ‘witches’ by the church and burnt at the stake.
In Vedic Hindu culture, Shakti is worshipped. The menstrual cycle is a time for rest, rejuvenation and higher spiritual power. But the modern world doesn’t recognise this.
Let’s understand why the menstrual cycle (I prefer to use the term moon cycle) is so sacred - and how you can decolonise and access the power of your womb!
The womb is the source of life, the sacred womb of creation. The modern day world has convinced us that we need pharmaceutical pills to ‘control’ the activities of our womb, our fertility and so forth. These are all ways to suppress the spiritual power of our womb. In fact, the womb is the source of our power. And we store trauma in our womb too - when we start to naturally heal our relationship with the womb, we can heal every area of our life, from our money to our relationships.
And healing our own womb, through detoxifying the impact of pharmaceuticals and developing a heightened state of sensitivity with our human body, not only heals us but all the generations before us and all the generations to come.
In fact, our human body has a deep innate intelligence. When we detoxify ourselves and are in tune with our body, we have higher intuitive abilities, higher manifestation power and we start to reclaim our innate spiritual abilities too.
Issues of the womb and fertility are often related to the Swadhishtana or sacral chakra, which is orange in colour and associated with the water element.
Here are some key things you can do during your menstrual cycle to heal and restore the power of your womb.
During this time, be sure to take lots of rest and drink lots of water. Modern society convinces us to hustle, but in the long term, this can take a huge toll on our body. The womb and body needs rest during this time so instead of being in the regular grind, as much as possible attempt to slow down and rest.
We are often used to taking pharmaceutical pills to curb period pain or even alter the natural menstrual cycle. These have a severe impact on the body, the cause of many modern diseases is just this. You can hear stories of thousands of women who have learnt the hard way to get off these pills. So - switch to natural methods of dealing with period pain. Whilst ayurveda offers many solutions, some other effective solutions include a) chamomile, lavender and butterfly pea tea (organic chamomile is super effective for stomach cramps). b) Vijaya or full spectrum cannabis extract is mentioned as a medicine in ancient Ayurvedic texts and the Atharva Veda. I get my own extract (and they even have a handy pain roll-on product) from India Hemp Organics, my number one choice. Just click the link here and using my discount code kamya10 will give you 10% off at purchase! c) there are many other ways of healing including sound healing, epsom salt baths, acupressure and so forth. Exploring these healing techniques is a journey and so just start somewhere and keep exploring.
This is a time for heightened spiritual sensitivity, you can literally talk to the universe during this time. Spend periods of time in meditation, observing your breathing. One simple visualisation method is to see white light filling up your body and imagine you are sitting in an orb of pure divine white light, and this light is healing everything from within. The more that you practice visualisation, the easier it gets. The faculty of visualisation is higher than the intellect. Women (and men too) are blessed with an intrinsic ability to visualise, so don’t forget that you are inherently magical!
Limit your interactions with external influences during this time, in ancient Vedic times women would actually be given an entire hut made of special mud and leaves that would cool down their system and support womb health. What happens in this time is that we absorb external energy from everything. So, to protect your own energy, just during this time, keep physical interaction at a low. There is no need to live in fear of physical interaction, but these 3 days are of very heightened energy and your womb needs all the energy for itself. You can also spiritually protect yourself with crystals like amethyst and black tourmaline.
Use this time to explore your magical abilities. Sing, paint, do more right brained activities. Work with your healing crystals. Write your thoughts and feelings down in a journal. Often the reason that we feel so shitty during this time is because our energy is blocked or stuck or otherwise past trauma is just coming to the surface. So it’s important to be compassionate with yourself, and take out more dedicated time to sit and be with yourself, be in nature, practice forgiveness. This is a heightened time of release so these different spiritual practices can help you ascend quicker and cleanse dense energy.
There is so much more to write on this topic and this is just the beginning.

ALSO did you know that Hinduism has an entire scripture called the Kamakhya Tantra which explores the sacred science of menstruation? I just attended the Ambubachi Mela in Assam which is a 3 day celebration of the menstrual cycle of Maa Kamakhya, the Goddess of the universe and that is the most powerful Shaktipeeth in the whole of India. Such an incredible experience and divine gathering of Shakti worshippers, full article on that coming soon!
